I’ve posted some new photo’s and there are some stories on our Facebook page. Though I know many people may not have Facebook, if you know someone that does, take a trip over to the Lulu’s Roadhouse Facebook page to see some great photo’s. And maybe even someone you recognize.
I will do my best to be more diligent about updating this blog and hope to add some more photo’s soon too.
Remember, it’s not too late to send me your photo’s if you’d like them included in the Lulu’s Roadhouse book, along with any stories you may want to share.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful year thus far as we head into the end of 2015. I still find it hard to believe sometimes that it is 2015. It just seemed like yesterday that everyone was freaking out as it was 1999 and everyone figured all the computers in the world would shut down. Geez, we sure know how to panic!
Well, this coming February 2016 will be 3 years since I began applying and now defending my Lulu’s Roadhouse Trademark application. I’d like to get some retro new items up online with the Lulu’s Roadhouse name and logo but alas it must wait until the trademark process and opposition is complete.
The website is down for now but I will be using the blog and wordpress to keep in contact…better updates then I’ve been posting in the past. I will attempt to get some more photos up soon as well.
If you have a story or photos please feel free to send them to me. The photos just need to be scanned at 300 dpi minimum so that they look good in the book. Don’t forget to include your name so that I can put it in the book!
No story is too small or too big. 2-3 sentence stories are just as wonderful as 1-2 page stories. If you need some help getting started, think about these questions…..
Did you meet someone famous? How did you meet them?
Did you work there? What was your uniform? How were tips? What was the minimum wage back then?
Most outrageous thing you saw?
You get the idea!!!
Hope to hear from you all soon and to see some great photos!

Well folks, I have to say, the past year has gone by fast and though I’d like to report lots of work being done on the book, that is not the case. I’ve received a great interview via thumb drive by Don Egley with a few others that were involved in Lulu’s Roadhouse and there was some great stories and information. I’ve had a chance to go through some of it. I’ve also gone through some of my older emails that contain stories from some of those that went to Lulu’s or were part of it’s daily operation. That being said, I’m still looking for more stories and photo’s. I’d like the book to be well-rounded with lots of stories and photo’s if possible. The book will be non-profit in the hopes that the newspaper formally known as the K-W Record and now known as the Waterloo Region Record will allow me to use many of the articles that they wrote about Lulu’s Roadhouse. As a profit book, I’ve been advised that I cannot use the articles. Where and how the profits are distributed are still being decided but they will definitely go towards the music and arts scene in the Waterloo Region.
I’ve also been working on acquiring the Lulu’s Roadhouse trade mark. This process started in April 2013 and is still in the process today. It has been opposed by a clothing company in the US but I am continuing the fight to register this important trade mark for the book amongst other things.
I have a couple weeks off coming up and plan to sit down and organize some of the photo’s and stories I’ve received so far.
If you know someone who was part of the Lulu’s Roadhouse crew or customers that attended the many great shows there let them know that stories and photo’s are needed. Everyone gets full credit in the book for the stories and photo’s they submit!!!
Hope everyone is having a great spring….summer is around the corner!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving whether it was with family, friends, or just hanging out by yourself. I flew down to Vancouver to see my daughters and grandson and catch up with some friends. I also drove to Seattle and caught the Seahawks and Cowboy’s football game. You can read the story here.
I’m still waiting to hear back on some legal stuff surrounding Lulu’s Roadhouse but hope to have a small online store front up online by the new year with retro Lulu’s “stuff”. Also, the book will no longer be for profit (except recouping costs of Trademarks and printing etc which is minimal). All profits from the sale of the book will go towards some type of music scholarship for a student(s) in the Kitchener area. I’ve got to work out the details for this and how it will all work but for now, that’s my update! It may not be a lot of money as the Lulu’s Roadhouse venue had a limited geographical audience but I’m hoping that the book profits will be able to give a $1000 to $2000 scholarship every year. We’ll see how it goes, but that’s the plan.
I’m back on night shifts starting tomorrow for 4 days but will try to get some photo’s posted later next week with an update and get some of the same photo’s on the new website.
Take Care All….have a great weekend!
I’ve redone the old website which was actually a blog site and it’s up and running. There remains a lot of information to be put on the website but eventually I’ll get it all up there. I’m still working on the Lulu’s Roadhouse book and never realized just how much work was involved or how long it would actually take to complete. I know many people are anxious to see it done, as I am too. I’ll keep you posted on the progress (I really will make an effort to update the blog regularly). Until then, check out the website at www.lulusroadhouse.com.
